Cashew from Maharashtra

Maharashtra's Konkan coast — Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts — is India's premium organic cashew belt. Smaller in volume than the major processing states, but the smallholder farm structure supports certified-organic supply and traceability that larger regions struggle to match.

The Konkan organic belt

The Konkan coast of Maharashtra is characterized by small farms (typically 1–4 hectares) growing cashew alongside mango and coconut. The farm structure is the opposite of large plantations: easier to certify organic, traceability is feasible, and the per-farm relationships allow processors to maintain quality consistency. For premium-organic and single-origin buyers, Konkan is one of India's most credible options.

Why source from Maharashtra

  • Organic certification — USDA Organic, EU Organic, India Organic certifications widely available
  • Traceability — smaller farm count enables farm-to-port traceability
  • Premium grade focus — Maharashtra processors lean toward W180–W240 rather than commodity volume
  • Mumbai Port (JNPT) — major international shipping hub

Volume note

Maharashtra produces and processes substantially less cashew than Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, or Tamil Nadu. For container-scale orders of standard grades, look elsewhere. For premium organic, niche premium, or single-origin storytelling — Konkan is the right answer.
